Daylight saving might sound dreadful if you are the parent of a young child. Children need structure, and with this change comes adjustments to their bedtime and wake-up schedules.

Here are somethings you can do to help make the transition as smooth as possible for your little ones:
Wait until Sunday morning to change your clocks. This way, your children won't feel like you lost an hour of sleep.
Split the difference during the first three days. Meaning, if bedtime is usually at 7:00PM have them in bed by 6:30PM Sunday-Tuesday. For the 4th night, have them in bed at 7:00PM.
For babies and toddlers that still nap, apply the same adjustment as bedtime for naps. Move naps by 30 min for the first three days, and return to their normal scheduled nap time on the fourth day.
It may take babies and young children a little bit longer to fall asleep, and it is normal since they won't be as tired the first couple of days but the darkness will make this transition easier. Most children will adjust to the new time within a week.
Remember to stay consistent with their bedtime routine and be patient!
